Pied Piper rodent control in Cumbria

Rodents are mammals of the order Rodentia, with rats and mice belonging to the suborder Myomorpha. The name comes from the Latin word rodere which means 'to gnaw'.

There are two species of rat in the UK, the Brown Rat (Rattus norvegicus) and the Black Rat or Ship Rat (Rattus rattus.)

The Brown rat has replaced the Black rat as a major pest, though Rattus rattus can still be found in some seaport towns.

Our House Mouse (Mus Musculus) climbs well and can squeeze through small gaps. If you can push a Biro under a door, our little house mouse can gain entry.

Rats, like mice, need to gnaw to keep their constantly growing incisor teeth worn down. They damage water & gas pipes, woodwork, plastic, packaging, and will sometimes strip insulation from electrical cables by their gnawing. Many electrical fires have been caused by rodent damage.

They are capable of spreading many diseases including Salmonella, Weil's disease, Lyme Disease, Murine typhus, Rat Bite Fever and Trichinosis. They are also probable carriers of foot and mouth disease on farms.

Rodents contaminate more food than they consume and their urine can pollute stagnant water so it is important to make your environment inhospitable to rodents!

We have a rodent control programme in place for both commercial and domestic premises. For a free, no obligation survey or for further information please contact us:  (01229) 480463
